Authorities seized illegal drugs worth more than Php 60 million in coordinated interdiction operations at Ninoy Aquino International Airport and a postal facility on Feb. 13, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported Sunday.

Police arrested a German national at NAIA Terminal 3 after X-ray screening flagged his luggage, which yielded more than eight kilograms of shabu concealed in a fabricated compartment.

The suspect was taken into custody following a joint operation involving airport investigators, customs personnel, and aviation security units, with the drugs immediately secured.

In a separate operation, authorities intercepted four inbound parcels at the Central Mail Exchange Center containing nearly 3.8 kilograms of suspected marijuana.

The parcels originated from Thailand and Canada and were flagged during routine cargo screening, police said.

The seized marijuana was turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for proper handling and case build-up.

Recipients linked to addresses in Cavite, Kalinga, and Pampanga were placed under investigation in connection with the parcels.

The PNP said the seizures underscored the role of intelligence-led coordination, advanced screening, and rapid response in tightening border security.
