The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported Saturday the arrest of a 35-year-old man tagged as a national-level Most Wanted Person in a late-night operation in Barangay Ayala, Zamboanga City, on Feb. 11.

The suspect, identified by authorities as the leader of a gun-for-hire group, was collared by operatives following intelligence monitoring.

He was served an alias warrant of arrest for two counts of murder issued by the Regional Trial Court of Basilan, Branch 2. No bail was recommended. Police said a P160,000 reward had been offered for information leading to his capture.

The operation was led by Zamboanga City Police Station 8, with support from the Regional Intelligence Unit 9, the City Intelligence Unit of the Zamboanga City Police Office, the 904th Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9, and the 2nd Zamboanga City Mobile Force Company.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the arrest showed intensified and coordinated police work against organized crime groups.

After his arrest, the suspect was brought to the Ayala Police Station in Zamboanga City, where he was held for documentation and legal processing before turnover to the court that issued the warrant.
