Moscow and Kyiv accused each other of launching overnight attacks that left at least two people dead and 42 others injured across Ukraine and Russia on Sunday.
In Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, a Russian strike hit a residential building, killing two people and injuring 21 others, regional Gov. Oleh Synyehubov reported.
Another attack struck the southern Ukrainian city of Odesa, where eight people were injured and residential buildings and vehicles sustained damage, according to city military administration chief Serhii Lysak.
Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russia launched 202 drones overnight and also fired missiles toward the Odesa region. Ukrainian forces claimed to have intercepted or suppressed 174 of the drones across northern, southern and eastern parts of the country.
Russia, meanwhile, reported another large-scale drone assault from Ukraine. Its Defense Ministry claimed that 153 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones were destroyed over Russian territory, occupied Crimea and the Azov and Black seas.
In Russia’s Belgorod region, acting Gov. Alexander Shuvayev reported that 13 people were injured, including two children.
The strikes also damaged at least four apartment buildings in Belgorod and sparked fires involving vehicles and a private residence, according to Russian authorities.
The claims and casualty figures reported by officials on both sides could not be independently verified amid the continuing war.
