In a strong show of support for President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s health initiatives, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) actively joined the 2025 Post-State of the Nation Address (SONA) discussions at the Makabagong San Juan National Government Center.
The two-day event brought together key agencies to expand on the President’s address and outline the next steps in delivering his administration’s vision. PhilHealth participated in the final cluster of Day 1, alongside the Department of Health, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, and Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Representing PhilHealth, Dr. Israel Francis A. Pargas, Spokesperson and Senior Vice President for the Health Finance Policy Sector, took the stage to highlight the agency’s flagship initiative: the PhilHealth YAKAP (Yaman ng Kalusugan Program). The enhanced primary care benefit package is designed to ensure every Filipino receives consistent and quality health services, echoing the President’s call for a more inclusive healthcare system.
Under PhilHealth YAKAP, members are now entitled to a broader range of services — including free consultations, essential medicines, and basic laboratory tests. In the weeks ahead, the program will scale up even further. Six types of cancer screening tests are set to launch, along with 54 more outpatient medications under the expanded PhilHealth GAMOT program (Guaranteed Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment).
“This is a concrete step toward making healthcare more accessible and equitable for all Filipinos,” said Dr. Pargas. “In Bagong Pilipinas, we are committed to delivering a PhilHealth that is fast, fair, and trustworthy.”

As the Marcos administration moves into its fourth year, PhilHealth is doubling down on its mission to strengthen health coverage and empower Filipinos with services they can count on — a promise anchored in the goal of building a better, healthier nation.
