Police operations in Davao de Oro, Kalinga and Iloilo resulted in three arrests and the seizure or destruction of more than Php 12.2 million worth of suspected illegal drugs and marijuana plants, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.

In Iloilo City, two people classified by police as high-value individuals were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Isidro, La Paz, early Monday, Aug. 31.

Authorities said the operation yielded about 710 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of Php 4.828 million. Police also recovered the buy-bust money and other evidence from the operation.

In Tinglayan, Kalinga, police discovered a marijuana plantation containing around 3,000 fully grown plants valued at an estimated Php 6 million. No suspected cultivator was arrested.

The marijuana plants were destroyed at the site, while samples were retained for examination, according to the PNP.

Separately, police arrested alias “Jun,” whom authorities identified as a high-value individual, during a tracking operation in Pantukan, Davao de Oro, on Aug. 30.

Police said the suspect had previously been arrested in June in a case involving about 215 grams of suspected shabu valued at Php 1.462 million. Authorities said he later left police custody during the earlier proceedings and had been tracked until his arrest Sunday.

PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said authorities would continue intelligence-driven operations aimed at preventing illegal drugs from reaching communities while observing due process and the rights of individuals.
