Police arrested a 34-year-old woman accused of stealing more than Php 1 million worth of jewelry from a condominium unit in South Triangle, Quezon City.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said personnel from Kamuning Police Station responded on Aug. 27 after the victim discovered that three pouches containing jewelry worth about Php 1.007 million were missing from a sling bag.
Police said the victim had earlier seen the suspect, who was staying in the unit, inside her bedroom despite being assigned to sleep in the living area.
The suspect later left the condominium, prompting the victim to check her sleeping area. Two bracelet chains and the victim’s bedroom key were allegedly found near the suspect’s bed.
A Buddha pendant valued at Php 250,000 was also left behind, while its matching necklace was missing, according to police.
When the suspect returned to the condominium lobby, the victim alerted authorities. Responding officers arrested her and brought both parties to Kamuning Police Station for investigation.
The suspect is set to be referred to the Prosecutor’s Office for a theft complaint. Police said the allegations remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings.
PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. urged the public to remain vigilant over personal belongings and immediately report suspicious incidents or missing valuables to authorities.
