President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to lead the inauguration of a Php 500 million cold storage facility in Pili, Camarines Sur on Monday.
The project, located in San Jose village, forms part of a larger agri-industrial complex aimed at strengthening the region’s food supply chain.
Camarines Sur Governor Luis Raymund Villafuerte said the facility serves as a key component of the CamSur Food Complex and is expected to support farmers and fisherfolk in the province.
He said the project reflects government efforts to provide better infrastructure and market access for agricultural producers, helping improve their income opportunities.
The Department of Agriculture-backed facility includes modern features such as a solar power system, blast freezer, and designated areas for processing and packaging.
It also has six refrigerated warehouses with a combined capacity of 2,688 pallet slots, capable of storing up to 4,600 metric tons of meat and 3,000 metric tons of vegetables.
Villafuerte said the facility would help reduce post-harvest losses by allowing producers to store goods longer and avoid selling at lower prices during oversupply.
Additional processing facilities for fruits, vegetables, and coconuts were also established within the complex, with officials saying the hub is expected to support food security, generate jobs, and improve distribution links to markets in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
