LAOAG CITY – The provincial government of Ilocos Norte is offering internship opportunities to unemployed residents, particularly fresh graduates of four-year college courses with strong academic records.

Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) head Anne Marie Lizette Atuan said Saturday that 12 slots are available under the Government Internship Program (GIP).

The initiative aims to help young graduates gain hands-on experience, strengthen their professional skills, and prepare for future employment.

Atuan said the program provides participants with an opportunity to experience working in government offices while developing skills needed in the workplace.

Interested applicants may submit their resume, transcript of records, diploma, personal data sheet, and application letter addressed to Governor Cecilia Araneta Marcos on Monday at the provincial capitol auditorium.

Lance Justine Manuel, an Information Technology graduate who was eventually hired by the provincial government following his internship at the Provincial Information Office, shared how the program helped him develop his abilities.

“As a Government Internship Program intern, this has been a big help in improving my skills. This program is a stepping stone for fresh graduates,” Manuel said.

Meanwhile, the provincial government is also accepting applications for 50 slots under the annual Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES).

Priority will be given to students from low-income families whose financial circumstances are certified by their communities, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), or the City Social Welfare and Development Office.

Both programs form part of the provincial government’s efforts to expand employment opportunities and provide practical work experience to young residents.
