Generally clear skies prevailed across the country on Monday, March 23, as easterlies continued to affect weather conditions, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

The agency reported that no tropical cyclones or low-pressure areas were being monitored, and no gale warnings were raised in any part of the country.

It added that the current weather pattern is expected to persist for the next several days, based on latest forecasts.

Despite the fair conditions, Pagasa noted that hot and humid weather developed from late morning to afternoon, with isolated thunderstorms likely forming later in the day.

Temperatures in Metro Manila, Laoag, and Tuguegarao were expected to range from 22°C to 31°C, while Baguio City remained cooler at 15°C to 24°C.

Other areas, including Legazpi, Puerto Princesa, and Tacloban, were forecast to reach up to 32°C, while Zamboanga and Davao could experience highs of 34°C.

The heat index was projected to peak at 39°C in Davao City and around 34°C in Metro Manila, placing both under the “extreme caution” category.

Pagasa said the heat index reflects the level of discomfort caused by the combined effects of temperature and humidity.
