Authorities arrested a foreign passenger arriving from Taipei at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 after discovering that he was the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant.
The Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group said the passenger was intercepted at the airport’s international arrival area on August 22 following coordination among the Quezon City Police District, Bureau of Immigration and airport police.
Immigration personnel flagged the passenger after receiving information from the QCPD regarding an alias warrant of arrest against him.
The warrant was issued by the Regional Trial Court of Bulacan Branch 17 in Malolos City for an alleged violation of Section 5(e)(2) of Republic Act No. 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act.
Authorities subsequently turned the passenger over to QCPD personnel, who verified the warrant and formally placed him under arrest.
“This successful operation demonstrates our continued commitment to maintaining the security of our airports while ensuring that wanted persons are properly identified, intercepted, and turned over to the appropriate authorities for proper disposition,” PNP Aviation Security Group Director Brig. Gen. Dionisio Bartolome Jr. said.
Police did not disclose the passenger’s name or nationality in the statement.
The arrested passenger was placed under the custody of the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit for documentation and further legal proceedings.
