Police arrested a 32-year-old man and seized about 200 grams of suspected shabu valued at Php 1.36 million during a buy-bust operation in Barangay 39, Bacolod City.
The Police Regional Office Negros Island Region said the operation was conducted at around 2:15 a.m. on August 23 by personnel of Bacolod City Police Office Station 1.
The suspect, identified only as alias “John,” was classified as a high-value individual and was listed by the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council.
Police said the operation stemmed from information provided by a confidential informant about the suspect’s alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade. Authorities subsequently conducted surveillance to validate the information.
Investigators said the suspect had previously been arrested in 2024 for an alleged violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, and was released in January 2026.
Police alleged that the suspect obtained his drug supply from a sibling and distributed illegal drugs in several Bacolod barangays, including Barangays 12, 29, 34, 36 and Singcang-Airport.
Authorities recovered several sachets and plastic bags containing suspected shabu, along with a sling bag, the Php 1,000 buy-bust money and Php 200 in cash believed to be proceeds from illegal drug transactions.
The suspect remained in police custody and was set to face charges for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165. The seized substances will undergo the required examination and processing.
