Filipino pride is pouring into glasses around the world as Tanduay Distillers, Inc. climbs to 7th place on The Spirits Business’ prestigious list of “Top 10 Best-Selling Brand Champions.” Not only did it leap from 9th to 7th, it also clinched the title of Rum Brand Champion for 2024—a first-class toast to resilience, tradition, and bold ambition.

“Being recognized as a Brand Champion is a great honor,” said Tanduay COO Kyle Tan. “This recognition reinforces our commitment to quality, innovation, and our tradition of excellence. It inspires us to keep raising the bar and delivering exceptional products.”

Despite a challenging year for the global spirits industry, Tanduay defied the odds, logging a 1.9 percent sales boost and moving an impressive 23.8 million nine-liter cases. It was the only rum brand to break into the top ten, standing tall among global giants.

The Spirits Business, which releases the annual Brand Champions report, praised Tanduay’s remarkable rebound: “Everyone loves a good comeback story, and Tanduay’s bounce back last year is a classic example.”

Tanduay credits its growth to its flagship offering, Tanduay 5 Years, as well as the rising popularity of Tanduay Light and Tanduay Select. These core products have helped the brand maintain its dominance in the Philippine market while also gaining traction in emerging rum markets like the United States, Belgium, Ukraine, and the UAE.

And the journey is far from over.

Tanduay is now eyeing the premium spirits space with a new line of high-end offerings, designed for both the local elite and international connoisseurs.

How brands earn the champion title
According to The Spirits Business, only brands selling more than one million cases annually are considered. Beyond just sales, the editorial team weighs marketing efforts, product innovations, and year-over-year consistency.

Flying the Filipino flag high
Tanduay isn’t just the sole rum brand in the Top 10—it’s also the only Filipino brand to receive the Brand Champion honor.

“It’s a moment of immense pride to see a homegrown Philippine brand stand shoulder to shoulder with the world’s best,” Tan added. “This recognition isn’t just for Tanduay—it’s a win for every Filipino.”

From Manila to Manhattan, Tanduay is proving that Filipino craftsmanship has a rightful place on the world stage—one bottle at a time.
