
Dasmariñas, Cavite — The suspect in the killing of a Manila Electric Company (Meralco) employee has surrendered to authorities, nearly a week after the tragic incident that took place in Dasmariñas, Cavite on August 27.
Meralco confirmed the development, expressing gratitude to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Cavite police for their swift action in tracking down the suspect.
“We thank DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla, PCOL Ariel Red, Provincial Director of the Cavite Police, and PLTCOL Regino Oñate, Chief of Police of Dasmariñas, along with the entire police force for their hard work,” said Joe Zaldarriaga, Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications of Meralco.
The company stressed its hope that the suspect’s surrender will pave the way for the expedited progress of the case, ensuring accountability under the law.
Meralco also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the bereaved family of its slain employee, extending both financial and moral assistance. “We are one with the family in mourning his death and in the continued pursuit of justice,” Zaldarriaga said.
The power distributor strongly condemned the incident, calling it a senseless act of violence that should have no place in society. “We stand firm in the belief that no life should be lost due to conflict or disagreements,” the company emphasized.
Authorities have yet to release additional details about the suspect and the circumstances of his surrender. Meanwhile, the victim’s family, colleagues, and community continue to seek justice for the loss of life.
