Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra has announced his intention to submit his courtesy resignation in compliance with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive aimed at realigning the Cabinet’s composition.
In a brief statement, Guevarra acknowledged the President’s prerogative to reorganize his administration in pursuit of more effective governance. “The President must be given full flexibility to steer the country forward, which includes reconfiguring his team. As with all Cabinet members, I will submit my courtesy resignation as instructed,” Guevarra said.
Guevarra, who was among the first officials appointed by Marcos at the start of his term, made the announcement following the President’s call for all Cabinet secretaries to offer their resignations. The move comes in the wake of the 2025 midterm elections, signaling a strategic reset for the administration.
President Marcos underscored that the reshuffle is rooted in a broader vision for governance rather than personal issues. “This is not about personalities. It’s about performance, alignment, and a renewed sense of urgency,” Marcos stated.
The request for courtesy resignations is part of what Malacañang described as a recalibration effort to strengthen the administration’s focus and deliver more decisive outcomes in the second half of the President’s term.
