The Sandiganbayan has moved the arraignment of former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and six co-accused in connection with the alleged P92.8-million ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.
The case involves officials from the DPWH Bulacan First District Engineering Office, including engineers and finance staff linked to the controversial project.
Sandiganbayan Third Division chairperson Associate Justice Karl Miranda said the postponement was needed because the accused have pending motions challenging the charges filed against them.
The arraignment, where the respondents will formally enter their plea, is now scheduled for February 9 at 8:30 a.m.
Miranda also instructed the lawyers of the accused to submit all pending motions by January 26, while government prosecutors must file their comments on these motions by January 28.
Earlier this week, the court issued a warrant of arrest against Revilla and his co-accused, prompting the former senator to surrender to authorities at Camp Crame.
Revilla appeared in court Friday morning, wearing a yellow Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) shirt, accompanied by his wife Lani and children, as the Sandiganbayan continues to monitor cases related to alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
