MANILA – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Saturday visited the Nuvali Steel Processing Center, Inc. in Biñan City, Laguna, to inspect its use of advanced robotics and modern manufacturing technology.
During the visit to the company’s facility at the Laguna Technopark Annex, Marcos observed operations in the robotic welding and laser-cutting sections, where automated systems are being used to improve production efficiency and product quality.
Marcos said the facility showcased some of the most advanced robotics-based manufacturing operations in the country and noted that its products meet international standards for industries such as automotive, motorcycle and machinery manufacturing.
NSPCI received Php 3 million in assistance from the Department of Science and Technology through the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program 4.0.
The company used the support to acquire two arc welding robots and integrate them into its production lines, helping automate metal fabrication and align operations with smart manufacturing practices.
Marcos said the partnership between the DOST and the private sector demonstrated how government support could help local firms adopt new technologies and compete internationally.
He added that wider use of robotics and advanced manufacturing technologies could strengthen local supply chains, improve productivity and create more employment opportunities.
The DOST’s SETUP program provides technical and financial support to micro, small and medium enterprises seeking to adopt Industry 4.0 technologies.
Under the program, qualified MSMEs may receive innovation-enabling assistance of up to Php 5 million, payable over three to five years at zero interest.
