Baguio City will continue to record the country’s lowest temperatures on Friday, ranging from 11 to 22 degrees Celsius, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

On Thursday, the city logged the coldest reading nationwide at 11°C, followed by Basco in Batanes at 15.8°C and Tanay in Rizal at 17.2°C.

The chilly weather is attributed to the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, which continues to sweep across the country.

Metro Manila, by contrast, will see warmer conditions with temperatures between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius.

Pagasa said the amihan will have minimal overall impact, but some areas may still experience light rains and cloudy skies.

Regions affected by scattered showers include Cagayan Valley, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Apayao, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Aurora, Quezon, and Oriental Mindoro.

The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with only isolated rain as the cool and dry winds from Siberia and China persist until early April.
