MANILA – About 1.1 million minimum wage earners in Metro Manila will receive a Php 60 increase in their daily pay starting Saturday as Wage Order No. NCR-28 takes full effect, the Department of Labor and Employment said.
Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino announced the implementation during the launch of the TUPAD-based “Trabahong-Dagat and Blue Enterprise Development” project in Intramuros, Manila.
Under the wage order, the daily minimum wage for non-agricultural workers in the National Capital Region rises from Php 695 to Php 755.
For workers in agriculture, retail and service establishments with 15 employees or fewer, and manufacturing firms with fewer than 10 regular workers, the daily minimum wage increases from Php 658 to Php 718.
Tolentino urged employers to comply with the new rates and ensure that payroll and compensation systems reflect the increase.
DOLE said it would continue monitoring compliance and provide guidance to both workers and employers on the implementation of the wage order.
The adjustment followed the tripartite wage-setting process of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-NCR and was confirmed by the National Wages and Productivity Commission.
