President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the 11th meeting of the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) Digital Infrastructure Sector Group at Malacañang to discuss measures aimed at expanding internet connectivity, strengthening cybersecurity, and improving digital services across the Philippines.
The meeting focused on addressing gaps in the country’s digital infrastructure, particularly in remote and underserved communities where access to reliable internet services remains limited.
Among the priorities discussed were expanding connectivity in geographically isolated areas and strengthening telecommunications networks to ensure uninterrupted communication services during natural disasters and emergencies.
The President and private sector representatives also tackled ways to create more employment and business opportunities for Filipino workers, startups, and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through improved digital infrastructure.
The discussions highlighted the importance of reliable internet access and secure digital systems in supporting economic activities, improving public services, and helping businesses participate in the growing digital economy.
Cybersecurity was also among the key concerns raised during the meeting as the government and private sector explored measures to strengthen the protection and reliability of digital services.
The meeting formed part of the continuing consultations between the Marcos administration and the PSAC on digital infrastructure development and other measures intended to improve connectivity and support economic growth.
The PSAC serves as an advisory body that provides private sector recommendations to the President on key economic priorities and development programs.
