Police arrested Northern Samar’s most wanted person in a statutory rape case during an operation in Catarman on June 12.
The suspect, an 18-year-old resident of Lapinig, Northern Samar, was caught in Barangay Washington.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said the arrest was based on a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 38 in Gamay, Northern Samar.
The suspect faced a statutory rape case under the Anti-Rape Law of 1997, as amended by Republic Act No. 11648.
The operation was carried out by the 2nd Northern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company, Catarman Municipal Police Station, and the Philippine Army’s 803rd Maneuver Company.
The suspect was placed under the custody of the Catarman police for documentation before turnover to the issuing court.
Meanwhile, no bail was recommended by the court.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez said the arrest formed part of the police campaign against wanted persons and serious offenders.
