The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) intends to use its proposed budget of P54.79 billion for 2026 to boost the nation’s irrigation network and consequently increasing crop yield.
The spending plan includes allocations for both new and existing systems.
Specifically, the budget supports the Irrigation Systems Development Program with funds for the extension and expansion of current systems, the establishment of new pump irrigation systems, and special irrigation sub-programs.
Key locally funded projects designed to increase irrigation coverage in major agricultural areas are reinforced by this budget.
These projects include allocations for the Angat Afterbay Regulator (Bustos) Dam, the Ilocos Norte–Ilocos Sur–Abra Stage 2 Project, and the Tumauini River Multi-Purpose Project in Isabela.
A portion of the budget is also set for transparency measures, including the development of an online dashboard to show project timelines, budgets, contracts, and geo-tagged progress photos to strengthen accountability
