Malacañang confirmed Wednesday the appointment of Paolo Teston and Debbie Jean Centeno-Dijamco as associate justices of the Court of Tax Appeals.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. named the two officials to fill seats vacated by Maria Belen Ringpis-Liban, who was promoted as CTA presiding justice in December 2025, and Catherine Manahan, who retired in January.
The Presidential Communications Office said Teston and Dijamco were scheduled to take their oath before Marcos at Malacañang on Wednesday afternoon.
They were among the 24 nominees shortlisted by the Judicial and Bar Council in May. Members of the judiciary are appointed by the President from a list submitted by the council.
Teston previously served as director general of the Food and Drug Administration and as an undersecretary at the Department of Health, where he led offices overseeing health facilities and regulatory services.
He also represented Marcos in a disqualification case before the Commission on Elections during the 2022 presidential race and was formerly affiliated with the law firm established by first lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.
Dijamco served as an undersecretary at the Department of Education for seven months. Before joining DepEd, she spent more than a decade at the CTA, including as judicial staff head at the Office of the Presiding Justice.
The appointments brought the number of Marcos appointees in the nine-member tax court to four. Two more seats are expected to become vacant in 2027 due to the scheduled retirements of Ringpis-Liban and Corazon Ferrer-Flores.
