The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested two wanted men facing rape-related charges in separate operations in General Santos City and South Cotabato on July 26.
In General Santos City, police apprehended a 46-year-old suspect in Barangay Calumpang through a warrant served by personnel of Police Station 10 and the city’s Highway Patrol Group.
Authorities said the man was ranked ninth on the regional most wanted list and first on the city’s list of wanted persons.
He is facing charges of rape by sexual assault, statutory rape and acts of lasciviousness in relation to Republic Act No. 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
In a separate operation, police arrested another suspect in Purok Mabuhay, Barangay Ambalgan, Sto. Niño, South Cotabato.
The man is listed as the province’s ninth most wanted person and the municipality’s second most wanted. He is wanted for attempted qualified rape under a warrant issued by a regional trial court in Surallah.
PNP chief Jose Melencio Nartatez said the arrests showed the police force’s continuing effort to locate fugitives and bring them before the courts.
He said operations against wanted persons would continue, particularly in cases involving alleged abuse of women and children.
