Since launching two routes in mid-2025, Davao City’s Love Bus Libreng Sakay program has carried more than 1.4 million passengers, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region XI said Monday.

The service recorded nearly 250,000 passengers in January 2026 alone, showing strong demand at the start of the year.

The free bus system operated during weekday and weekend peak hours, running morning and evening shifts to provide continuous service for commuters.

Sixteen buses were deployed on the two routes, with half assigned to the Lasang–Sasa–Lanang–Bajada–Roxas Avenue corridor and the rest covering the UM Matina–Bangkal–Mintal Bypass–Mintal Elementary Loop.

Each route allowed riders to travel across key areas of the city, with buses completing return trips along the same paths in reverse.

Authorities overseeing the program said the steady ridership highlighted the importance of reliable and accessible public transport in Davao City.

LTFRB Region XI and partner transport groups said they would continue operating the Love Bus program to maintain commuter services and ensure mobility across the city.
