Jollibee makes history as IPOPHL’s first-ever well-known mark

The Jollibee brand has cemented its place in Philippine business history after its iconic Jollibee Mascot and Stacked Logo were officially recognized as the country’s first Well-Known Marks (WKM) by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL).

Conferred on August 10, 2025, this milestone marks the first time IPOPHL has granted WKM status through its newly established administrative process. The recognition affirms the Jollibee brand’s exceptional reputation and widespread public recognition, both in the Philippines and abroad, and provides its trademarks with heightened legal protection across all goods, services, and territories.

WKM status ensures that Jollibee’s most recognizable brand assets are safeguarded from misuse or imitation, even beyond their registered classes, reinforcing the company’s leadership as a proudly Filipino brand with global reach.

The conferment ceremony gathered representatives from Jollibee Foods Corporation, Quisumbing Torres law firm, and IPOPHL officials, highlighting the collaborative effort behind this landmark achievement. Present at the event were Atty. Bienvenido Marquez III, Partner, Quisumbing Torres; Atty. Gian Chua, Jollibee Group Senior Legal Counsel; IPOPHL Bureau of Trademarks Assistant Director Atty. Ginalyn Badiola; IPOPHL Deputy Director General Atty. Nathaniel Arevalo; IPOPHL Director General Atty. Brigitte M. Da Costa-Villaluz; IPOPHL Deputy Director General Atty. Ann Claire C. Cabochan; Atty. Shean Molera, Jollibee Group General Counsel for IP, Digital, and Privacy; IPOPHL Bureau of Trademarks Director Atty. Jesus Antonio Z. Ros; Atty. Marianne Estioco, Associate, Quisumbing Torres; and Atty. Divina Ilas-Panganiban, Partner, Quisumbing Torres.

This historic recognition further underscores Jollibee’s role as a symbol of Filipino excellence, inspiring pride at home and commanding respect on the global stage.
