Coco Martin brings Tamaraw spirit to Cagayan de Oro

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The usually quiet showroom of Toyota Cagayan de Oro (TCO) in Kauswagan erupted in drumbeats, cheers, and excited screams as acclaimed actor and entrepreneur Coco Martin stepped through its doors, radiating his trademark charm to a sea of eager Kagay-anons.

The visit marked Coco’s first provincial stop as brand ambassador of the Next Generation Toyota Tamaraw, part of a nationwide caravan by Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) and its partner dealerships. The special stop coincided with the city’s festive Higalaay celebrations, offering Coco a chance to meet and celebrate local micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) owners who are driving progress with their Tamaraws.

In a symbolic moment, Coco joined TCO executives Betty Lu and Peter Lim Lo Suy in releasing a brand-new Tamaraw Utility Van to customers Mr. and Mrs. Lopez. The actor spoke candidly about his own journey as a budding businessman, sharing how the Tamaraw has been instrumental in building his company, Coco Plus.

“Habang okay ang aking career, sinisumulan ko ang pagnenegosyo. Ang Tamaraw ang ginagamit ko para mapabilis ang pagdedeliver ng aking mga produkto,” he shared, highlighting how the vehicle’s versatility supports his ventures behind the camera.

Among the excited crowd was Sohaimah Noroden, owner of N&S Glassware and a thriving live seller. She recently acquired a Tamaraw Aluminum Cargo, praising its fuel efficiency, ease of driving, generous cargo space, and budget-friendly ownership—qualities that empower MSMEs like hers to grow and thrive in CDO’s bustling economy.

From showroom to shopping mall
After his showroom appearance, Coco surprised shoppers at a nearby mall, where Toyota had mounted a vibrant Tamaraw display. Fans flocked to catch a glimpse of the star while exploring the modern features of the Next Generation Tamaraw, which many noted had evolved in design and functionality to match today’s entrepreneurial demands.

From the Toyota Cagayan de Oro showroom to the heart of the City of Golden Friendship, Coco Martin brought more than smiles—he brought a message of resilience, hope, and progress, echoing the Tamaraw’s core ethos: Abante, Posible.

Tamaraw: Built for every Filipino dream
First launched in 2024, the Next Generation Toyota Tamaraw has quickly become the utility vehicle of choice for Filipino entrepreneurs. This year, TMP expanded the lineup with new customizable options, including the Wing Van, Food Truck, and Mobile Store, joining existing variants like the Dropside, Utility Van, and Aluminum Cargo.

TMP promises more Tamaraw activities and caravans across the country in the coming months to champion MSMEs and their role in fueling local economies.
