Residents in the southern and eastern parts of the Philippines are urged to take precautions as the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is poised to dump scattered to heavy rains across several regions, according to the state weather bureau.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported Monday that the ITCZ, currently affecting Mindanao, will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms to Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and the Davao Region.
The agency specifically warned that the moderate to heavy rains anticipated in these areas could trigger dangerous flash floods or landslides.
Meanwhile, the rest of Mindanao is also expected to experience isolated rain showers and thunderstorms due to the convergence zone.
In the north, the northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” is bringing light rains to Batanes. The remaining parts of the country are forecast to experience generally fair weather, with isolated rain showers stemming from localized thunderstorms and the easterlies.
PAGASA further advised that light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas are expected to prevail across the archipelago. The public is strongly encouraged to continuously monitor official advisories for localized updates and safety information.
