LAOAG CITY – The provincial government of Ilocos Norte is inviting unemployed individuals, particularly fresh graduates with four-year degree courses and good academic records, to apply for its internship program.

There are 12 slots available, according to Provincial Public Employment Service Office head Anne Marie Lizette Atuan.

“The initiative aims to provide young graduates with opportunities to gain practical work experience, develop professional skills and improve their readiness for future employment,” she said in an interview Saturday.

Atuan said the program reflects the provincial government’s efforts to help the youth transition from academic life to the workplace by providing opportunities to learn in a government office setting.

Applicants may submit their resume, transcript of records, diploma, personal data sheet and application letter addressed to Governor Cecilia Araneta Marcos on Monday at the provincial capitol auditorium.

“As a Government Internship Program intern, this has been a big help in improving my skills. This program is a stepping stone for fresh graduates,” Lance Justine Manuel, an Information Technology graduate who was hired by the provincial government after his internship at the Provincial Information Office, said.

Meanwhile, 50 slots are also open for application under the annual Special Program for the Employment of Students.

Priority applicants include students who belong to the low income families duly certified by the community, Department of Social Welfare and Development or City Social Welfare and Development Office.
