ICI vows full probe, dismisses resignation rumors

The Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI) is committed to uncovering the truth and will “not allow any whitewashing” in its ongoing investigation, Executive Director Brian Keith Hosaka said Tuesday.

“That’s why it is very crucial that the commission carefully untangles this web of corruption. This is not a simple modus,” Hosaka told reporters, emphasizing the need to verify all evidence and testimonies. He cautioned that some information “might be false, and possibly given to mislead the investigation and even the public for whatever agenda by some people.”

Hosaka added that the ICI may expand its probe to include heads of the Land Transportation Office and the Bureau of Customs in connection with the alleged smuggled luxury cars of the Discaya couple.

He also dismissed claims that a commission member is planning to resign, asserting the ICI’s stability. “Hindi totoo na meron miyembro ng ICI na gustong mag resign. Buo po ang ICI at patuloy silang nag-iimbistiga ayon sa kanilang mandato (It is not true that an ICI member wants to resign. The ICI is solid and will continue its investigations, based on its mandate),” Hosaka said.

The remarks came after Caloocan City 2nd District Rep. Edgar Erice claimed that a “discouraged” ICI member was considering stepping down due to the commission’s alleged lack of investigative authority over major infrastructure scandals.
