Fernando, Castro win big in Bulacan midterm elections

Governor Daniel Fernando and Vice Governor Alexis Castro secured sweeping victories in Bulacan’s 2025 midterm elections, with Fernando winning his third and final term by a record-breaking margin.

The Provincial Board of Canvassers, led by lawyer Mona Ann Campos, proclaimed the winners on Tuesday at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center.

Fernando garnered 1,169,428 votes—outpacing opponents Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado (225,881) and Bogs Violago (224,586) by nearly 1.2 million votes, the widest margin in the province’s history. Castro earned an even higher total, winning with 1,360,020 votes against Elmer Paguio’s 154,644.

“We will focus on solving Bulacan’s flood problem,” Fernando said, citing plans to build a coastal road, enhance flood control systems, and construct a new dam to manage seasonal overflows.

In his final term, Fernando aims to prioritize infrastructure development and sustain key provincial services.

Meanwhile, Bulacan’s congressional delegation will include reelected representatives Danny Domingo (1st District), Tina Pancho (2nd District), Cholo Violago (3rd District), Salvador Pleyto (4th District), and Agatha Paula Cruz (5th District).

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan will feature a mix of reelected and new members across all six districts.
