Toyota Motor Philippines has formally entered the battery-electric era under the Toyota badge with the official launch of the all-new bZ4X, marking the release of units to its first local customers and signaling a decisive step toward broader electric mobility in the country.

The bZ4X becomes Toyota’s first full Battery Electric Vehicle offered under its mainstream brand in the Philippines, expanding an electrified lineup that previously featured the Lexus RZ and Lexus UX. Its arrival builds on more than a decade of groundwork, beginning with the introduction of the Prius Hybrid Electric Vehicle in 2009 and evolving into what is now the country’s widest range of electrified vehicles.

Today, Toyota and Lexus collectively offer 22 xEV models locally, reflecting the company’s multi-pathway strategy toward carbon-neutral mobility and its belief that customers should be given multiple technology options based on real-world needs.

At the heart of the all-wheel-drive bZ4X is a 73.11 kWh lithium-ion battery paired with dual electric motors, producing 227 PS at the front and 120 PS at the rear, with torque figures of 269 Nm and 170 Nm respectively. The setup delivers an estimated driving range of up to 570 kilometers under United Nations Regulation 101 testing, with Eco and X-Mode drive settings designed to adapt to varying road conditions and driving styles.

Visually, the bZ4X carries a sharp, modern look defined by its angular lines, LED headlamps, 20-inch alloy wheels, and a panoramic moonroof. A 200-millimeter ground clearance gives it added confidence on uneven roads, while a power back door with kick sensor enhances everyday practicality for loading and unloading cargo.

The five-seat cabin continues the premium feel, featuring synthetic leather upholstery, generous second-row legroom, and heated seats for both rows. Front occupants also benefit from seat ventilation, while the driver enjoys an eight-way power seat with memory function.

Technology takes center stage inside, led by a 7-inch digital meter cluster and a large 14-inch display audio system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Dual wireless charging pads, along with USB Type-C ports for both front and rear passengers, reinforce the bZ4X’s everyday usability.

Safety is equally comprehensive, with the latest Toyota Safety Sense suite that includes a Pre-Collision System, Automatic and Adaptive High Beam, Lane Tracing Assist, Lane Departure Alert, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Added features such as Blind Spot Monitoring, a Panoramic View Monitor, and a digital inside rearview mirror further enhance driver awareness.

To ease the transition to electric ownership, every bZ4X purchase includes a complimentary wall box charger and a portable charger, addressing one of the most common concerns among first-time EV buyers.

According to TMP First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations Elijah Marcial, the launch reflects years of preparation and market readiness. He noted that Toyota’s multi-pathway approach involves not only offering the right technologies, but also ensuring customer education, preparedness, and alignment with the country’s improving charging infrastructure and evolving power mix.

With greater familiarity among Filipino motorists when it comes to EVs, Toyota believes the bZ4X is well-timed to bring battery-electric driving into the mainstream.

Early customers echo that confidence. One buyer who reserved during the pre-launch period cited daily commutes between Quezon City, Caloocan, and Nuvali as a major factor, noting that fuel savings and readily available charging stations eased concerns about range. Another longtime Toyota owner shared that brand trust, after decades of ownership, played a crucial role in choosing the bZ4X as a long-term vehicle for the family.

The all-new Toyota bZ4X is offered in a single variant, priced at P2,699,000 for Dark Blue Mica with Attitude Black Mica, P2,714,000 for Platinum White Pearl Mica with Attitude Black Mica, and PHP 2,719,000 for Precious Metal or Emotional Red paired with Attitude Black Mica. It is now available at select Toyota dealerships nationwide, including locations in Metro Manila, Laguna, and Cebu.

With the bZ4X, Toyota is not just adding another model to its showroom. It is making a clear statement that the future of mobility in the Philippines can be electric, practical, and built on decades of trust.
