Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon has directed an independent foreign consultant to evaluate the Aganan Flyover in Iloilo City ahead of its planned launch this year.

The flyover is intended to provide motorists with an alternate route connecting Felix Gorriceta Jr. Avenue and Benigno S. Aquino Jr. Avenue, easing congestion in the city.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials said the project is part of the department’s key infrastructure priorities for 2026, with completion targeted before the end of the year.

Dizon’s office flagged concerns over additional funding, noting the flyover requires an extra P285 million to cover jet grounding and road widening costs.

The third-party assessment aims to ensure the structural integrity of the flyover and verify that all construction standards are met before opening to the public.

The DPWH chief emphasized that infrastructure development will accelerate this year, following delays caused by previous corruption issues, particularly in flood control projects.

DPWH regional offices continue to monitor the project closely, coordinating with Dizon to secure necessary resources and maintain the construction timeline.
