MANILA – The Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Port of Manila has raised close to PHP23 million from the sale of a luxury car confiscated last year.
In a news release Monday, the BOC reported that a 2021 Rolls-Royce Cullinan was sold for PHP22.95 million during a public auction on Oct. 30.
Based on BOC records, the vehicle was among the motor vehicles confiscated in 2025 in Pasay City due to indications of unlawful importation.
Upon verification, authorities found no corresponding records in the Customs Processing Database (CPD), which served as the basis for initiating legal action pursuant to Section 1113 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
Meanwhile, the BOC reported that it has collected a total of PHP146.677 million from public auctions held from January to September, with PHP115.889 million of that amount coming from the Port of Manila.
The bureau said all proceeds from public auctions are remitted to the Bureau of the Treasury to help fund government programs and essential services that directly benefit the Filipino people.
This is part of the BOC’s ongoing efforts to transform confiscated and forfeited goods into additional government funds through a fair, transparent, and lawful disposition process.
“Every successful auction is a reminder that there is a positive return to the public from our enforcement efforts. Ultimately, the proceeds go to the public treasury and help fund programs that also benefit the people,” Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said. (PNA)
