The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has downgraded its alert level in Israel from Level 3 (voluntary repatriation) to Level 2 (restriction phase), effective immediately. This decision follows positive developments in the security situation in Israel.
In a Facebook post on Monday night, the DFA stated, “The Department will closely monitor the situation in the region and will update the Alert Levels, as necessary.”
Alert Level 2 is issued when there are threats to the life, security, and property of Filipinos due to internal disturbances, instability, or external threats. Under this level, Filipinos are advised to restrict non-essential movements, avoid public places, prepare for potential evacuation, and maintain contact with the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate.
Additionally, overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who have returned to the Philippines and possess a valid Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) and re-entry visa are now permitted to travel back to Israel. However, pilgrims, tourists, and other non-essential travelers, including newly-hired workers, are still prohibited from entering the country.
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) reported that there are approximately 30,000 OFWs in Israel, primarily working as caregivers and in the hotel industry.
Last week, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire deal between Israel and Iran. Following this, Israel declared a “historic victory” in its 12-day military operation, dubbed Operation Rising Lion, which targeted several Iranian nuclear sites from June 13 to 24. The Israel Defense Forces Home Front Command has since lifted all restrictions on schools, public gatherings, and workplaces.
