MANILA – The Department of Education (DepEd) warned the public against a circulating social media post falsely claiming that classes nationwide have been suspended on October 5 and 6, 2026 in connection with Teachers’ Day.
In an advisory, DepEd branded the announcement as “fake” and issued a misinformation alert to prevent the public from being misled.
The fabricated post claims that Malacañang issued an executive order suspending classes and work in public and private schools nationwide on Monday and Tuesday for the Teachers’ Day celebration.
DepEd clarified through its advisory that the circulating nationwide class suspension announcement is misinformation.
Students, parents, teachers and school personnel are advised to rely only on announcements from DepEd, local government units and other authorized government agencies for official information on class suspensions.
The public is also urged to verify information before sharing social media posts, particularly announcements involving school schedules and class cancellations.
