QUEZON CITY – Police arrested two men and recovered 17 pieces of jewelry worth about P664,000 following a reported theft in Quezon City, the Philippine National Police said.

The suspects, identified by police as a 41-year-old driver and his male helper, were traced through CCTV footage reviewed after the complainant discovered that her jewelry box was missing.

Recovered items included a diamond ring, wedding ring, earrings, bracelets, a necklace and other pieces made of gold, white gold, pearl and diamond, according to the PNP.

Police said the investigation began after the complainant formally reported the incident and provided available evidence, including CCTV recordings that helped authorities identify and locate the suspects.

The two men are facing a complaint for theft under Article 308 of the Revised Penal Code. The case is being processed before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

PNP chief PGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the case highlighted the importance of promptly reporting crimes and preserving available evidence.

“Naging malaking tulong ang CCTV dahil nagkaroon agad ng malinaw na lead ang ating mga pulis,” Nartatez said.

The PNP also reminded the public to take precautions when allowing drivers, service providers or temporary helpers access to their homes, particularly during moving or delivery activities.
