A 43-year-old Chinese woman wanted in connection with an alleged Consumer Act violation was arrested in Cabanatuan City, police said.
Members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group’s Nueva Ecija Provincial Field Unit tracked down the suspect at the Old Capitol Compound in Barangay Quezon District on Sept. 11.
The arrest was carried out on the strength of a warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 52 in Guagua, Pampanga.
Police said the case involved alleged violations of Sections 18(a) and 19 of Republic Act No. 7394, or the Consumer Act of the Philippines.
The complaint had previously been investigated and was refiled before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor on June 16, 2026, before the case reached the trial court.
Authorities did not disclose further details about the business transaction or consumer product allegedly involved in the case.
PNP chief Jose Melencio Nartatez said anyone staying or doing business in the Philippines is expected to comply with local laws, while stressing that enforcement must remain within legal and human rights safeguards.
The suspect was temporarily held at the CIDG Nueva Ecija custodial facility pending the return of the warrant to the issuing court, with the allegations still subject to court proceedings.
