MANILA – Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro will retain her position despite submitting her courtesy resignation alongside other officials of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) following a change in the agency’s leadership.

PCO Secretary Lino Cayetano confirmed on Friday, October 23, that Castro would continue serving as Palace press officer under the new leadership.

“Usec. Claire is a treasure,” Cayetano said, expressing his appreciation for Castro and his intention to continue working with her.

The courtesy resignations came amid the leadership transition at the PCO, which oversees the government’s official communications and information dissemination.

Despite the resignations, Cayetano’s statement indicated that Castro would remain responsible for communicating official Palace announcements and responding to media inquiries.

The status of other PCO officials who submitted courtesy resignations has yet to be clarified.
