Police in Central Luzon issued a public advisory on Wednesday outlining which firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices are allowed or banned to ensure a safe holiday season.
Police Regional Office-3 (PRO-3) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr. said the sale, distribution, and use of illegal firecrackers are strictly prohibited.
He said even permitted firecrackers may not be sold or used outside designated zones.
Peñones warned that violators face confiscation of items, fines, and possible criminal charges.
Firecrackers allowed when not oversized and sold in authorized areas include Baby Rocket, Bawang, El Diablo, Judas Belt (small), Paper Caps, Kwitis, and small Triangulo.
Permitted pyrotechnic devices include Fountain, Sparklers, Roman Candle, and Whistle Device.
Police said hazardous firecrackers such as Piccolo, Watusi, Five Star, Pla-Pla, Giant Bawang, Goodbye Philippines, Boga, and all oversized or imported firecrackers remain banned.
PRO-3 urged the public to purchase fireworks only from authorized vendors and to avoid illegal items.
Residents were also encouraged to immediately report violations to the police or through the 911 hotline.
The advisory supports the holding of supervised community fireworks displays in designated areas to reduce firecracker-related injuries.
