The number of fatalities from the landfill collapse in Cebu City has risen to 11, based on the latest tally from local fire authorities released Tuesday.

Officials said dozens remain affected by the disaster, with 25 individuals still missing as search teams continue combing the site.

At least 12 people were reported hurt and are receiving medical treatment following the incident, authorities added.

The landslide struck Thursday afternoon at a waste disposal facility in Barangay Binaliw, prompting an extensive rescue effort that has continued for several days.

In the wake of the tragedy, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Central Visayas ordered the immediate suspension of the landfill’s operations.

The site is operated by Prime Integrated Waste Solutions Inc., which has acknowledged the shutdown and said it is coordinating with government agencies and the Cebu City government.

The company said it would provide assistance to affected families and stressed that the safety of workers, responders, and nearby communities remains its priority as investigations continue.
