Several explosions were heard across parts of Iran on Thursday evening as tensions between Tehran and Washington continued to intensify.
Iranian media reported at least seven blasts but did not immediately provide full details on casualties or the extent of the damage.
Mehr News Agency reported that two explosions were heard near Bushehr and the nearby town of Choghadak in southern Iran.
Bushehr deputy governor for political and security affairs Ehsan Jahaniyan said the blast heard in the city followed a timely response by Iran’s air defense system.
He said a military facility on the outskirts of Bushehr was hit by a projectile that he attributed to the United States and Israel, but he did not give further details.
Iranian state news agency IRNA also reported explosions in Konarak, a city in southern Iran.
Kanarak Governor Mohammad Younis Haqqani said two explosions struck a naval military zone in the city in separate waves of attacks by enemy fighter jets on Thursday evening.
Authorities said an investigation was underway to determine the scope of the attack, which came after Iran and the United States exchanged strikes over two days following Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
