MANILA, Philippines — A total of 1,023 individuals completed the third-quarter Technical-Vocational and Livelihood Training Program of the Manila Manpower Development Center (MMDC), with Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso leading the graduation ceremony at Pedro Guevara Elementary School on Thursday, October 22.
Domagoso congratulated the graduates and reaffirmed the city government’s commitment to equipping Manila residents with practical skills to improve their employment prospects and help them establish their own businesses.
The mayor emphasized that providing accessible skills training remains a key priority of his administration, particularly as residents and businesses continue to face economic challenges.
“Iyong aking pangarap, ang bawat Manileño o batang Maynila ay magkaroon ng sapat na kagamitan o skills para mas magkaroon ng oportunidad ang ating mga kababayan, habang patuloy din nating sinusuportahan ang mga negosyo upang makapagsimula, magpatuloy at lumago, lalo na sa hirap ng ekonomiya,” Domagoso said.
Through the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW), headed by Director Jay Dela Fuente, the city government continues to implement training and livelihood initiatives designed to help residents become more competitive in the workforce.
Domagoso also stressed the importance of ensuring that Manila residents benefit directly from the growth of businesses operating in the city.
“Kapag sila ay nanatili at lumago, maghahanap sila ng empleyado — at kapag naghanap sila ng empleyado, gusto ko taga-Maynila ang kukunin nila,” he said.
The city government said it would continue expanding opportunities for skills development, employment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods to help more Manileños achieve economic stability.
