QUEZON CITY – Beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program can now use their Guarantee Letters (GLs) to purchase prescribed medicines at five Southstar Drug branches in Quezon City.

The initiative forms part of the initial implementation of a partnership between the DSWD and Southstar Drug aimed at improving access to essential medications for individuals and families experiencing financial difficulties.

DSWD Undersecretary Romualdez said the participating pharmacies were strategically selected to provide greater convenience to beneficiaries, particularly those obtaining their Guarantee Letters from the department’s Commonwealth Satellite Office.

“We are now in the initial implementation of our partnership with Southstar Drug. As of today, five strategic branches across the National Capital Region (NCR) are now accepting guarantee letters,” Romualdez said.

“Conveniently located near our Commonwealth Satellite Office—where these letters are issued—these branches ensure that our beneficiaries can seamlessly receive their required medications without delay,” the official added.

Under the arrangement, qualified AICS beneficiaries may use their approved Guarantee Letters to obtain medicines from participating Southstar Drug outlets, subject to the program’s requirements.

The initiative is expected to reduce the need for beneficiaries to travel to distant pharmacies and help facilitate access to prescribed medications.

The DSWD’s AICS program provides assistance to individuals and families facing crisis situations, including support for medical needs and other essential expenses.

The department’s partnership with Southstar Drug seeks to make the delivery of medical assistance more accessible and convenient for qualified beneficiaries.
