Two leaders of the House “Young Guns” bloc on Sunday dared former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to “be a man” and attend the next hearing so he could follow through on his threat to kick members of the House of Representatives.
“How can you kick us if you don’t physically attend the hearings? Be man enough to do it. I suppose you are a man of your word,” La Union Representative Paolo Ortega said.
“Don’t make empty threats. Please make no mistake: while we respect you, by no stretch of the imagination does this mean we’re afraid of you. Give us respect, too,” Ortega added.
House Assistant Majority Representative Jay Khonghun of Zambales urged the former president to stop making excuses for not attending the hearings. He said that the president must act like a statesman if he wants to be respected.
“Please make sure to be around on Wednesday, so you can make good on your threat to kick congressmen, as you have repeatedly warned,” Khonghun said.
The next hearing of the Quad Committee, which is investigating the war on drugs, is scheduled for Wednesday, November 13.
