Valenzuela wins 1st place at National Literacy Awards

The City Government of Valenzuela secured a prestigious victory this year, taking first place in the 2024 National Literacy Awards.

The city won the coveted Gawad Liyab for Outstanding Local Government Unit (LGU) and the Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation Gawad Sinag Special Award for Outstanding Financial Literacy at the National Literacy Conference and Awards Ceremony in Mandaue City, Cebu, on December 12.

Valenzuela City’s success is attributed to its Education 360 Degrees Investment Program, an innovative initiative that promotes literacy across various sectors. The program’s comprehensive approach has made significant strides in enhancing education and community engagement, positioning the city as a leader in literacy development.

This latest recognition adds to Valenzuela City’s growing list of accolades. In 2024, the city also earned the Galing Pook Award from the Galing Pook Foundation and its second Seal of Good Local Governance from the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

These achievements reflect Valenzuela City’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of its residents through education and literacy programs, reinforcing its role as a model local government.
