King Charles III of the United Kingdom expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Philippines on Tuesday after the twin disasters of typhoons and earthquakes struck the country.
In a message posted on X, the king said, “My wife and I have been deeply concerned by the news of the typhoons and floods that have affected the Philippines in recent weeks and are profoundly saddened to hear of further loss of life.”
He added that the suffering had been compounded by devastating earthquakes in October and extended his sympathies to the families of those who lost loved ones as well as to emergency services.
Meanwhile, the Canadian embassy in Manila announced that Canada is ready to provide humanitarian aid.
“Our thoughts are with those who have been affected by Super Typhoon Uwan in several regions across the Philippines,” the statement said, adding that Canada continues to coordinate with local and international humanitarian partners to determine how best to address urgent recovery needs.
