PAL reports 17% profit growth, third quarter soars

Philippine Airlines (PAL) reported a 17 percent increase in net income, reaching $159 million in the first nine months of 2025.

In the third quarter alone, net income jumped 62 percent to $22 million, with revenues hitting $755 million, driven by more flights and a steady passenger volume of 3.8 million.

Passenger revenue edged up 1 percent to $632 million, while ancillary income, boosted by seat upgrades and baggage fees, grew 25 percent year-on-year. Cargo revenues also rose 2 percent to $42 million.

PAL president Richard Nuttall said, “As we move forward with our strategic and long-term initiatives, we remain focused on delivering value to stakeholders, strengthening our financial position, elevating the passenger experience, and ensuring the highest standards of safety in all our operations.”

Earlier, the airline posted a P3.9 billion net profit in the first quarter, despite slightly lower revenue due to timing changes in the Holy Week travel period.
