Israeli air attacks across southern Lebanon left at least 11 people dead overnight, including two infants and two paramedics, while five others were wounded, Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported Monday.
Most of the casualties were reported in Kafr Rouman, a town near Nabatieh. A three-story residential building there was reduced to rubble in a strike shortly after midnight, prompting an emergency search for people trapped underneath.
Rescue teams eventually recovered nine bodies from the destroyed building. Two of the victims were infants, while five people survived with injuries, according to the Lebanese agency.
Another deadly attack occurred elsewhere in Kafr Rouman when a drone targeted a civilian vehicle. Two paramedics belonging to the Islamic Risala Scout Association were killed inside, NNA reported.
Airstrikes were also reported in Nabatieh al-Fawqa and Arabsalim, extending the overnight attacks to several communities in southern Lebanon. A house was destroyed in Arabsalim, but the report did not specify casualties there.
Deir al-Zahrani was also targeted after the Israeli military warned occupants to evacuate a building. NNA said an airstrike destroyed the structure roughly 22 minutes after the warning was issued.
The casualty figures and circumstances of the attacks were based on reporting from Lebanon’s state news agency. No Israeli response to the reported deaths was immediately cited.
The strikes added to continuing hostilities in southern Lebanon, with residential areas and emergency personnel among those affected in the latest overnight attacks.
