A new chapter is opening for the local spirits scene as renowned Spanish brandy house Torres makes its official debut in the Philippines through a distribution partnership with Tanduay, introducing Filipino consumers to Torres 5 Light and a selection of its globally respected spirits.

The entry of Torres marks a meeting of two legacy brands with deep roots in craftsmanship and heritage. For Tanduay President and CEO Lucio Tan III, the partnership represents more than just portfolio expansion, but a shared vision of quality and long-term growth.

“The arrival of Torres in the Philippines marks the coming together of two great houses united by a commitment to excellence,” Tan said. “This partnership reflects our vision to offer Filipino consumers world-class spirits.”

Torres Spirits Global Managing Director Christian Visalli echoed the sentiment, expressing confidence that the brand’s Spanish tradition will resonate strongly in the local market.

“We are proud to bring the rich heritage of Spanish brandy to the Philippines,” Visalli said. “With Tanduay as our distributor, we are confident that Torres products will reach Filipino consumers who appreciate exceptional spirits rooted in authentic Spanish tradition.”

Leading Torres’ Philippine lineup is Torres 5 Light, a brandy designed to be more approachable without sacrificing craftsmanship. Made from quality grapes and aged using the traditional Solera method in oak barrels, Torres 5 Light offers a lighter, smoother profile that fits naturally into everyday drinking occasions while still delivering a premium experience.

Best enjoyed over ice, it features a clear medium-gold hue, gentle aromas of grape, dried fruits, and vanilla, and a smooth, subtly sweet palate with notes of prune, grape, and vanilla. Bottled at 25 percent alcohol by volume, it strikes a careful balance between heritage and modern taste, making it appealing to both new drinkers and seasoned brandy enthusiasts.

Torres 5 Light will be distributed nationwide, alongside other premium Torres products aimed at a broad spectrum of consumers, from the young and adventurous to those with more refined preferences.

Behind the bottle is a history that spans centuries. The Torres family has cultivated vineyards in Penedès, Spain since the 16th century. Casa Torres was formally founded in 1870 by Jaime Torres Vendrell, initially focused on winemaking. The family entered brandy production in 1928 when Juan Torres Casals began aging brandy in oak barrels, using the finest white wines from Penedès — a practice that helped define the brand’s global reputation.

Torres 5 Light will be available at leading supermarkets and groceries nationwide, with additional Torres products set to arrive in the Philippine market within the first quarter of the year, signaling a strong and confident entry for the iconic Spanish brand.
