A family SUV has to handle more than the occasional weekend getaway. Its real test comes on a Tuesday morning, when everyone is running late, traffic is building, and the back seat is already full of bags. That is the everyday setting in which the GAC GS4 MAX HEV hopes to make its case.
For growing Filipino families, the appeal starts with space. The SUV’s 2,750-mm wheelbase gives passengers room to settle in, while rear air vents help make the second row more comfortable on warm days. Its 638-liter trunk can take on the weekly grocery run or a family’s luggage. When bigger cargo takes priority, folding the 40/60-split rear seats increases capacity to 1,586 liters.
The hybrid system also keeps a familiar routine intact. The GS4 MAX HEV does not need to be plugged in: drivers refuel at a regular gas station, and the vehicle automatically manages power from its engine and electric motor. In traffic, the electric motor’s quick response is designed to make starts and changes in pace feel smoother. The 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle engine and hybrid system deliver a listed combined output of 232 horsepower, with up to 300 Nm of motor torque for acceleration when the vehicle is carrying passengers and luggage.
There is help for some of the less enjoyable parts of driving, too. Adaptive Cruise Control and Traffic Jam Assist support pacing in heavy traffic, while collision warning, emergency braking and lane assistance add support on busier roads. The SUV’s regular suggested retail price is ₱1,298,000. GAC is offering an introductory price of ₱1,218,000—a saving of ₱80,000—for qualifying reservations through December 31, 2026, according to the company’s offer details.
